Have the children sit on chairs in a circle, with one girl standing in the middle. Give all the girls including the one in the middle fruit names - best limited to three. for example peach pear plum peach pear plum and so on. The girl in the middle calls out one of these fruits, and  all the children with that friut name quickly swap seats, the caller also tries to grab a seat, and whoever is left standing calls the next fruit. There is also the option of calling “fruitbowl” which is when everybody gets up and swaps seats. You should make it clear to the girls that the object is not to be the one left in the middle, or you end up with a huddle of them refusing to move just so they can call a fruit!

This game can also be themed. We play it as Tuck shop by choosing three different sweets, amd everyone moves on “Tuckshop”.

We have also played it as Black, White, Zebra. The children are named alternately as black or white, and everyone moves on “Zebra”.

On the occasions when we have joined in, we tend to end up totally out of puff!
